A History: ’s Word of the Year
The original StarCraft has been a beloved game for over 10 years because it took the elements of the emerging RTS genre and coalesced, balanced, and polished them into a nearly perfect example of game design. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty – Multiplayer
How about StarCraft Universe? If you remember one of those, you remember them both, because they’re the same game, just renamed after some legal disputes with Blizzard. You know — starting up in a new online game and making up some fake, “profound” anime-inspired name for your avatar that you only realize the dorkiness of it two years later when you grow out of your teens.
In most cases, you’re stuck with it. In the case of StarCraft 2? Well, Blizzard are finally offering a name change to its players, but there are a few things to be wary of.
The expectations for StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty might seem impossible to meet. It’s a sequel 12 years in the making, a follow-up to what’s widely regarded as one of .

Starcraft II gets new patch
Pollution resolution If I replace my old diesel car with a less polluting new petrol one, how long will it take for the reduced pollution of the new car to outweigh the increased pollution caused by the manufacture of the new car and the disposal of the old, assuming average usage? It seems such a waste of energy. I read that a supermarket won an award for its two-year-matured puddings. So, what happens over two years to bring out the flavour?

Wings of Liberty WoL. Apart from the expectations for multiplayer from the StarCraft: Brood War community, it had to sell its campaign to the larger audience and then coax those players back into the multiplayer game. The decision was made early on to separate the campaign and multiplayer games and, as such, this is really two games in one. First and foremost, I agree with Blizzard’s decision to split the game into the initial Terran campaign and forthcoming expansions with the Zerg and Protoss campaigns.
This campaign is huge and completely worthy being presented as the first offering of the StarCraft II trilogy.

Wings of Liberty” by Blizzard Entertainment was rushed through production, coming about 12 years after its predecessor. Where “Chinese Democracy” became over-saturated during its incubation, however, “StarCraft II” distilled from Blizzard’s tremendous developing expertise a deeper, mature and multifaceted gaming experience that avoids many of the streamlining pitfalls which claim too many anticipated titles. One frustrating tendency of the sci-fi and fantasy genres is the temptation to include new races, regions, playable units and general content while neglecting real abstractions and departures from previous games, in part due to budget and creative constraints.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty isn’t perfect, but it’s damn close. The campaign is engrossing and varied, while the multiplayer component will be played for years to come.
Tychus isn’t really the “gg” type. What they talked about: Few games are as synonymous with competitive gaming as Blizzard Entertainment’s Starcraft franchise. And while most of the planet isn’t likely to be able to go toe-to-toe with the wunderkinds of South Korea, where Starcraft tournaments are a national pastime, a handful of Blizzard designers were on hand to give a few pro tips to the workaday multiplayer gamer in a BlizzCon panel titled “Starcraft II: Secrets of the Masters.
First, he noted that the matchmaking system is an adaptive, learning one, where the more matches a player undertakes, the more accurate the matchmaking system becomes. He also noted that a player’s win-loss ratio isn’t particularly important; instead, a player’s skill versus the opponent’s skill is what matters. That way, he said, players of a high skill rank shouldn’t be deterred from playing with their less-skilled friends, as it won’t impact their individual rank.
